We individually handsculpt each Laila's face using felt over clay. Her eyes are handblown German glass. Her hair is made from natural flax fiber (grey), natural hemp fiber (creamy white), or Pakucho organic cotton yarn. She is stuffed with a combination of glass pellets and organic cotton stuffing. Her arms are wired. Laila is 14" tall (12" when seated), as measured from the top of her head (not the top of her hat) to the bottom of her boots.
We use no molds for our figures, which means each face is different. This is what makes each handmade doll unique. While the faces of the men elf dolls do vary a little, the faces and the hair of the lady dolls vary greatly from doll to doll, so each lady doll's face is photographed individually.

Laila lives in a small thatched cottage at the northern edge of a grassy meadow. At the opposite end of the meadow is a marsh, filled with wonderful life, like frogs and muskrats, as well as beautiful plants. If you visit Laila on a summer day and she is not at home, look towards the south. You'll probably find Laila happily walking along the marsh, collecting sweetgrass from which she makes baskets, tea and scented oil. A garden flower, or two, might be poking out of her grass bag as well!
Laila is 14" tall (12" when seated), as measured from the top of her head (not the top of her hat) to the bottom of her boots. Laila is wearing a light brown & beige weave linen skirt, and a floral cotton blouse. She has a brown cotton apron trimmed with organic cotton braid and an organic cotton sash. A cotton gauze shawl keeps her snug, when the cooler afternoon breezes start to pick up.
She has beige cotton velveteen legs, and is covered with handstitched patches. Laila's soft hat is made from a Peruvian organic cotton hand brushed fleece fabric, and topped with an organic cotton yarn tassel. A glass bead necklace completes her outfit.
From one arm Laila holds a woven hemp sack, filled with summer sweetgrass and flowers. We handmake the flowers from linen and hemp, and the sweetgrass from cotton.
All of our figures are 100% vegan. Large nisser come with solid, cedar wood seats (shown below), a wire backrest (if you don't wish to use the seat), and a Legend of the Nisse story tag.
